Product Description:

Silicon carbide, given the chemical formula SiC, is made with quartz sand, petroleum coke (or coal coke), wood chips (salt is added for the production of green silicon carbide) and other raw materials. The silicon carbide is smelted in a resistance furnace, heated at a high temperature. It is also called electrolon sand or refractory sand.

Silicon carbide is divided into two kinds: black and green, which are both hexagonal crystal structures. The specific gravity of silicon carbide is 3.20 to 3.25g/cm3 and it has a Mohs hardness of 9.5.
