Product Description

Removing Burr 3.21 g/cm³ Black Carborundum Silicon Carbide Powder F500

INTRODUCTION

Silicon carbide, chemical formula for SiC, is made of quartz sand, petroleum coke (or coal coke), wood chips (adding salt for green silicon carbide production) and other raw materials, then smelting in a resistance furnace at high temperature, and it can also be called electrolon sand or refractory sand. Silicon carbide is divided into two kinds: black silicon carbide and green silicon carbide, are hexagonal crystal, specific gravity is 3.20~3.25g/cm3, Mohs hardness of silicon carbide is 9.5.

PROPERTIES

Black silicon carbide has a hardness of 9.5 on the Mohs scale, making it one of the hardest abrasive materials available. It also has excellent thermal conductivity, which allows it to dissipate heat quickly during grinding or cutting operations. Black silicon carbide is chemically inert and does not react with most chemicals, making it ideal for use in harsh environments.

APPLICATION

·Wireless communication: SiC-based RF devices can operate at higher frequencies and temperatures than traditional silicon-based devices, enabling new wireless communication applications.

·Medical implants: SiC can be used in medical implants due to its biocompatibility and resistance to wear and corrosion.

·Optics: SiC is transparent to a wide range of wavelengths, making it useful in optical windows and lenses for harsh environments.

·Metrology: SiC is used in precision metrology equipment, such as coordinate measuring machines and surface profilers, due to its stiffness and thermal stability.
